Metal Snow Guards

Metal snow guards are typically made from materials like stainless steel, aluminum, or other durable metals. These materials are chosen for their strength, corrosion resistance, and longevity.

These are flat, rectangular, or square metal plates with upward-facing projections that hold the snow in place. There are also several decorative designs available. The SnowCatcher is made from a durable 16-gauge American Made 304 stainless steel and is available in a mill finish or can be powder coated to match the roof.

These are metal bars or fences that are mounted on the roof, creating a barrier to hold the snow. The SnoBar and ColorBar are available in both single bar and double bar options.

This type of snow retention resembles small pipes or tubes designed to break up the snow as it slides down, slowing its descent. Our SnoBar is square and the ColorBar has a flat face making them much more efficient for holding snow and ice than a round pipe style bar.

Proper installation is critical for the effectiveness of metal snow guards. The spacing and placement of the snow guards depend on factors such as the roof's pitch, local weather conditions, and the specific design of the snow guards. They are typically attached to the roof using screws, clamps, or other mechanical fasteners.

It is important to note that some metal snow guards can be incompatible with certain types of metal roofs with dissimilar metals. Polycarbonate snow guards do not exhibit this problem.

Once installed, metal snow guards generally require minimal maintenance. However, periodic inspections should be conducted to ensure that the snow retention system remain securely attached and free from debris.
