What are the RoofClamp RC and RoofClamp RCT?
When it comes to attaching accessories to your standing seam metal roof, it is important to use an attachment clamp that is strong, durable, reliable, and easy to use. The choice is simple...you need the RoofClamp! Designed with innovation and durability in mind, RoofClamp RC and the larger RCT ensure secure and reliable attachment to your standing seam metal roof without compromising its integrity. RoofClamp RC and RCT can be used to attach almost anything to a standing seam roof without panel penetration including but not limited to satellite dishes, solar panels, HVAC systems, Unistrut, walkways, heat tape systems, snow guards, signage, and lighting systems. With decades of field testing and service, RoofClamp is easily the most universal fit, non-penetrating seam clamp in the industry. We have independent laboratory testing to back up its performance.
What materials are the RoofClamps manufactured from?
Each RoofClamp is made in the USA, crafted with a one-piece extruded 6061-T6 aluminum body, and utilizes three 1 1/4” X 3/8” stainless steel cupped tip set screws. This 3-point attachment system guarantees superior strength for both perpendicular and parallel loading. The non-penetrating nature of these screws ensures that you won’t void your roof manufacturer’s warranty. Unlike some competitors’ clamps, our coarse-threaded stainless steel set screws are engineered for smooth operation, eliminating the risk of cross-threading and seizing that can leave other aluminum clamps un-serviceable. These inferior clamps often have to be cut off of the seam whereas ours can be easily removed and then re-used again and again. The RoofClamp’s three stainless steel set screws can be properly torqued in about a minute per clamp with a micro torque wrench and 3/16" Allen bit. Unlike some competitors who rely on failure-prone bullet-tip or round-nosed set screws that require upwards of 130-180 in/lbs of torque, our tried and true cup-tipped set screws only require 90 in/lbs or torque (NOT ft/lbs). Less torquing means less panel deformation and decreases the possibility of damage to the seam or compromising its water-tightness. The single stainless steel 3/8” threaded top bolt features the same coarse threaded design and comes with a stainless steel washer.
The RoofClamp RC's 1” wide throat opening can accommodate approximately 90% of today's popular standing seam profiles. For wider t-seams up to 1.5” and larger bulb seams, we suggest using the RoofClamp RCT, the big brother to the RC. This clamp is known to fit approximately 95% of today’s standing seam profiles. These 2 clamps are top loading, eliminating the need to panel feed them from the ends which can scratch and damage the finish on the panel’s seams, so avoiding this whenever possible is always the right choice. Contractors and roofers no longer need to stock 20-30 different clamps for their crews. RoofClamp can get the job done with only two.
It is important to keep in mind that while the RoofClamp RC and RCT excel in attaching accessories to your roof, they are not meant for use as fall prevention tie-off points. An excellent choice for fall protection is the RidgePro First Man Up (FMU) Last Man Down (LMD) roof anchoring system. For more information on that product, you can check out our recent blog about it.
