The SFS #14 Type 17 A-Milled Point is a 1/4-14 x 3" snow guard screw.
These precision carbon steel self-tapping fasteners are designed for metal roofs on wood purlins or decking. Features a 5/16" AF Hex Washer Head. To withstand all the elements, this screw comes with a corrosive-resistant VistaCoat® premium coating system. and a bond-seal weatherproof washer. When screwing down snow guards, the use of Novaflex MR-150 is recommended, unless a foam gasket is used on the base.
This screw is recommended with the SnoBar2.67 and ColorBar 2.67 screw-down mounting bracket.
It can also be used on snow guards when a longer length of screw is required to correctly fasten to the wood purlins. There should be at least one inch of screw embedded in the wood.
This screw is not recommended for installation into less than 1" of wood. Fasteners installed in less than 1" of solid wood may have an increased potential for sealing or connection failure over time. This may be due to the fasteners being stripped out during installation and/or due to the lack of adequate wood fiber material to hold the fastener in place during thermal movement cycles or other forces that may be exerted upon the connection
