Snojax II Snow Guards Key Features

  • Made in America

  • A flat, forward-facing design is proven to cause less roof stress, failures, and leaks than other competing options.

  • Easy installation

The SnoJax II is the first adhesive-mounted snow guard and has been produced since 1995.

This proven snow guard was designed to allow for an adhesive application. The dual design can be flipped over and used to straddle a minor rib. During installation, it is important always to keep the mounting surface in front of the snow. Placement only in isolated areas such as chimneys, doorways, vents, and partial roof sections is not recommended.

This snow guard can either be mechanically fastened or adhered using Surebond SB-190.

Use the flat side down on a 5.25" flat surface, or simply flip the unit over to straddle a small minor rib or striation. Starter points are provided on both sides for mechanical fastening with self-drilling screws.

Snojax II Snow Guards Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The standard Snojax 2 polycarbonate snow guard is clear and does not cast a shadow, making it less noticeable than a colored guard. We do not currently have this model available in colors. If you want a polycarbonate pad-style snow guard option available in color, we recommend checking out the SnoBlox Deuce.

Snow guards made of plastic are not all created equal. We use only virgin, UV-stabilized polycarbonate produced in the USA. Over time, our polycarbonate snow guards may experience a loss of clarity but seldom amber.

According to our testing, metal and polycarbonate snow guards exhibit comparable durability and strength results. For more information, please refer to our resources page's "testing" tab. Our customers' decisions are frequently more dependent on aesthetics than on strength. Only polycarbonate snow guards can be installed on standing seam roofs with Surebond SB-190 adhesive.

No matter which snow guard system you select, we never recommend installation in isolated areas like just above HVAC systems, chimneys, vent pipes, or doorways. A system must span the entire roof length for maximum weight distribution and frequently calls for multiple rows up the slope. Please visit our spacing guidelines page for layout information for your project.

The Snojax 2 comes with two molded starter points near the face of the guard. When using self-tapping screws, like our Master Grippers or Master Drillers, pre-drilling may be helpful but is not required.

With the Surebond SB-190 adhesive and the NovaFlex MR-150 silicone sealant, you can typically install 10 Snojax 2 polycarbonate snow guards.

On standing seam metal roof panels with flat areas that are wider than 6", we recommend using the flat face of the guard. When the panel's seam spacing is 16" or less, you can use one guard per panel, centered. If the panel is between 18" and -24", you would use two guards per panel spaced evenly. The installer can use the ridged side of the guard to straddle a minor rib on screw-down panels with ridges, such as the PBR and R-Panel styles. You must fill the gap under the rib with either silicone for screw-down installation or adhesive for glue-down installation. Never allow water to flow under a snow guard, as it can get trapped, freeze, and expand, forcing the guard away from the panel. This installation method typically involves installing the guard off-center.

About SnoBlox-Snojax

In the late 1970s, we embarked on a quest for an improved snow guard solution that would be non-corrosive and nearly invisible to preserve the building's aesthetic appeal. After extensive testing, we obtained a patent for Snojax®, the world's first screw-down, clear, non-corrosive, polycarbonate snow guard. In 1985, we innovated further with the release of Snojax II, the world's first glue-down polycarbonate snow guard. By 2000, we introduced two patented SnoBlox® models, "Ace" and "Deuce," offering an economical alternative and resolving the challenge of straddling minor ribs. These models boasted the industry's first patented waffled base design, enhancing adhesive bonding. In 2005, we expanded our offerings with Icejax I and Icejax II, which were validated through rigorous testing by the renowned ATI professional testing laboratory. Our Snojax®, SnoBlox®, Icejax™, and SnowCatcher™ brands are the epitome of robust snow guards in the industry, validated by comprehensive testing.
