Icejax I Spacing Recommendation

Please refer to the spacing guideline page for proper snow guard placement.

The Icejax I's Key Features:

  • Made in America

  • A flat, forward-facing design is proven to cause less roof stress, failures, and leaks than other competing options.

  • Easy installation

  • It can hold more than 2 tons of snow!

Icejax I Is The Mini Version of The Icejax II

The IceJax I is a miniature version of the IceJax II with the same design and style as the tried-and-true patented design. The IceJax I is the most economical snow guard in our product line. This product features unique interchangeable sides which allow for installation with screws or adhesive depending on your roof style. Please note that placement only in isolated areas such as chimneys, doorways, vents, and partial roof sections is not recommended.

The Icejax I's Patented Interchangeable Design

Mount the flat side down on a 3" flat surface or simply flip the unit over to straddle a small minor rib, always keeping the mounting portion of the guard in front of the snow. They will fit most brands of screwed-down 36" panels that have either 9" or 12" rib spacing and the majority of standing seam floating panels with at least a 3-inch flat mounting area. Professional ATI test results show the Icejax I held a remarkable 4,200 pounds when screw mounted and up to 500 pounds when adhesive mounted using the Surebond SB-190. All tests were performed simulating realistic snow-loading conditions applied to the face of the guard.

Icejax 1 Economical PolyCarbonate Snow Guards for R-Panel Metal Roofing

Icejax I Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

NO! Regardless of your selected system, we never recommend installation in remote locations like above HVAC systems, vent pipes, garage doors, or just above entryways. A snow rail or snow guard system must span the entire length of the roof for optimum weight distribution, and it frequently calls for multiple rows up the slope.

The IceJax 1 comes with two molded starter points near the face of the guard on each side. This snow guard offers installation options for both ridged panels and flat metal roofing styles. When using self-tapping screws, like our Master Grippers or Master Drillers, pre-drilling may be helpful but is not required.

We make clear snow guards from 100% virgin polycarbonate produced in the USA, unlike many competitors who source inexpensive plastics from overseas. Thirty times stronger than acrylic, polycarbonate plastic is robust and highly resilient. Our polycarbonate's UV stabilization prevents the guards from becoming brittle over time.

Approximately 10 of our larger polycarbonate snow guards and 20–25 smaller models, including the IceJax 1, can be installed with the Surebond SB–190 adhesive. Please be aware that this can vary depending on the user's application.

For polycarbonate snow guards, such as the IceJax 1, the Surebond SB-190 adhesive requires approximately 28 days at 50 degrees Fahrenheit to cure fully. Temporary temperatures below that threshold may prevent the curing process from progressing and increase the amount of time required for a complete cure. After 45 minutes, rain should not prevent the adhesive from curing.

Not all plastic snow guards are created equal. We only utilize virgin, UV-stabilized polycarbonate made in the USA. Our polycarbonate snow guards may lose some clarity with time, but rarely amber.

About SnoBlox-Snojax

In the late 1970s, we embarked on a quest for an improved snow guard solution that would be non-corrosive and nearly invisible to preserve the building's aesthetic appeal. After extensive testing, we obtained a patent for Snojax®, the world's first screw-down, clear, non-corrosive, polycarbonate snow guard. In 1985, we innovated further with the release of Snojax II, the world's first glue-down polycarbonate snow guard. By 2000, we introduced two patented SnoBlox® models, "Ace" and "Deuce," offering an economical alternative and resolving the challenge of straddling minor ribs. These models boasted the industry's first patented waffled base design, enhancing adhesive bonding. In 2005, we expanded our offerings with Icejax I and Icejax II, which were validated through rigorous testing by the renowned ATI professional testing laboratory. Our Snojax®, SnoBlox®, Icejax™, and SnowCatcher™ brands are the epitome of robust snow guards in the industry, validated by comprehensive testing.
