SlateGuard is the only polycarbonate snow guard for slate roofs.

The strap is constructed from heavy 16 gauge 304 stainless steel and is easily hooked into the nail or under the existing slate shingle. The stainless and polycarbonate construction is guaranteed to last a lifetime and is virtually invisible when installed. The clear SlateGuard is usually in stock, but larger quantities on hand may sometimes be limited. Larger orders and colors usually require approximately 3 -4 weeks for delivery. SlateGuard Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The SlateGuard's strap is heavy-duty 16 gauge 304 stainless steel, and the SnoBlox Deuce is 100% virgin polycarbonate plastic. The stainless and polycarbonate construction is guaranteed to last a lifetime and is virtually invisible when installed.

The Slateguard snow guard for slate and shingle roofing comes fully assembled from the manufacturer.

The SlateGuard is available in any of the colors currently available for the SnoBlox deuce. This snow guard's hidden stainless steel strap requires little to no color-matching for this component.

No, we do not keep the Slateguard in stock. We produce this snow guard on a made-to-order basis. The typical lead time for production is approximately 3-5 weeks, and lead times are subject to change based on order quantities.

We manufacture the SlateGuard for roofs located in geographic areas where the ground snow loads do not exceed 45 pounds per square foot (PSF). Check out our spacing guidelines page for spacing recommendations based on your roof's pitch. Any project with a ground snow load higher than 45 PSF should have a snow rail system installed. You can fit the SnoBar and ColorBar systems with shingle and slate roofing brackets. Please fill out our Bar Quote Request Form to obtain a quote for this system. Once you complete the form, a representative will contact you.

Use the Slate/Shingle Guard Spacing Layout Guideline Page from our spacing guidelines section when installing SlateGuard. It is not advisable to isolate snow guards on partial roof sections, such as those directly over doorways, HVAC units, chimneys, vent pipes, or roof vents.

If installed at the same time as the roofing material, this snow guard should screw into a solid substrate below instead of attaching it to the shingle/slate mounting hardware. If installing SlateGuard on asphalt shingles, we recommend this attachment method instead of hooking into short roofing nails.

About SnoBlox-Snojax

In the late 1970s, we embarked on a quest for an improved snow guard solution that would be non-corrosive and nearly invisible to preserve the building's aesthetic appeal. After extensive testing, we obtained a patent for Snojax®, the world's first screw-down, clear, non-corrosive, polycarbonate snow guard. In 1985, we innovated further with the release of Snojax II, the world's first glue-down polycarbonate snow guard. By 2000, we introduced two patented SnoBlox® models, "Ace" and "Deuce," offering an economical alternative and resolving the challenge of straddling minor ribs. These models boasted the industry's first patented waffled base design, enhancing adhesive bonding. In 2005, we expanded our offerings with Icejax I and Icejax II, which were validated through rigorous testing by the renowned ATI professional testing laboratory. Our Snojax®, SnoBlox®, Icejax™, and SnowCatcher™ brands are the epitome of robust snow guards in the industry, validated by comprehensive testing.
