Designed for metal roofs in Canadian climates, the SnowBreaker 3M offers an innovative snow retention and control solution using 3M VHB tape and SB-190 adhesive for reliable performance.

SnowBreaker 3M Adhesive Snow Guards – 25 Pack for Metal Roofs | Ships Free in Canada

The SnowBreaker 3M is a versatile snow splitter guard for metal roofs. Instead of holding large snow masses, it breaks and disperses sliding snow and ice into smaller, safer pieces that shed naturally. This breaker design minimizes roof overload while protecting walkways, doors, and driveways from sudden snow slides.

Key Features

  • Made in America from durable, weather-resistant materials.
  • Easy to install with multiple attachment methods.
  • Most versatile snow guard in the SnoBlox-Snojax lineup.
  • Mount using screws, SB-190 adhesive, or 3M VHB tape (see installation guidance).
  • Safely breaks apart sliding snow and ice to prevent damage to roofs and gutters.

SnowBreaker 3M Dimensions for Metal Roof Installation

How the SnowBreaker Works

The SnowBreaker 3M functions as a snow splitter rather than a full snow-retention system. Its unique angled profile disrupts and fractures sliding snow and ice, allowing smaller pieces to shed safely and evenly. SnowBreakers improve roof safety while maintaining efficient snow shedding.

Mounting Options & Roof Compatibility

Screw-Down Roofs (Exposed Fasteners): Use the mechanical screw-down version and fasten into a purlin or suitable structural support below.

Standing Seam Roofs: Use SB-190 adhesive for a permanent attachment when temperatures allow. Installers can use 3M VHB tape as a temporary solution for cold weather when ideal adhesive curing conditions are not possible.

Safe for You and Your Roof

The SnowBreaker 3M reduces the dangers of sudden roof avalanches without the added weight and stress of full-retention systems. As snow slides, it slices and disperses frozen precipitation into smaller pieces, helping prevent damage to gutters, landscaping, and entryways.

Wintertime Application Guidance

For colder weather installations, use the peel-and-stick (3M VHB) version as a temporary mount. 3M tape requires a minimum of 50°F (10°C) for at least 72 hours to achieve proper adhesion. Testing shows an average shear strength of 234 lb (106.14 kg) before release from the panel surface.

Note: 3M tape installations still require a perimeter bead of SB-190 for waterproofing. Avoid using SnowBreaker 3M in areas where ground snow load exceeds 25 PSF.

Isolated Areas & Doorway Protection

Unlike traditional metal roof snow retention systems, which must span the entire roof area. The SnowBreaker can be used to protect isolated areas such as doors, steps, and walkways that are prone to snow accumulation. Mount at a 45° outward angle above problem zones to effectively disrupt the movement of sliding snow and ice. To see the recommended patterns for isolated snow retention, refer to our Isolated Placement Guide.

Items Included

  • 25 × SnowBreaker 3M guards with pre-attached 3M VHB tape
  • 1 × Tube SureBond SB-190 adhesive per 50 guards (used as a perimeter sealing bead)

Spacing & Installation Resources

Always install SnowBreakers across the entire roof. Avoid isolated sections unless following the specific isolated-area method. For general spacing and mounting guidance, refer to:

About SnoBlox-Snojax

In the late 1970s, we embarked on a quest for an improved snow guard solution that would be non-corrosive and nearly invisible to preserve the building's aesthetic appeal. After extensive testing, we obtained a patent for Snojax®, the world's first screw-down, clear, non-corrosive, polycarbonate snow guard. In 1985, we innovated further with the release of Snojax II, the world's first glue-down polycarbonate snow guard. By 2000, we introduced two patented SnoBlox® models, "Ace" and "Deuce," offering an economical alternative and resolving the challenge of straddling minor ribs. These models boasted the industry's first patented waffled base design, enhancing adhesive bonding. In 2005, we expanded our offerings with Icejax I and Icejax II, which were validated through rigorous testing by the renowned ATI professional testing laboratory. Our Snojax®, SnoBlox®, Icejax™, and SnowCatcher™ brands are the epitome of robust snow guards in the industry, validated by comprehensive testing.
