The 16 gauge Mustang Mill (Horse) SnowCatcher is a decorative metal snow guard that is made from 304-grade stainless steel. The large forward-mounted wide face provides a generous holding field, and the 1.5” wide base fits most 36” panels with 9” or 12" rib spacing. Professional test results demonstrated that the Mustang Mill (Horse) SnowCatcher held up to 4149 pounds of force pushing against the face of the guard before the method of attachment failed. The original shape of the SnowCatcher was retained throughout the entire test. The durable construction does not get brittle like cheap fabricated cast metal guards. Included in the box is a 1/16" thick adhesive-backed V742 CCF PVC foam sealer for each SnowCatcher purchased.

Mustang SnowCatcther Snow Guard Application:

Screw down applications only. SnoBlox-SnoJax does not recommend adhesive mounting this guard. Placement in just isolated areas such as chimneys, doorways, vents and partial roof sections is NOT recommended. Screws are sold separately. Slight variations in mill finish are not cause for rejection.

I want to install SnowCatchers just over my front door. Is this okay?

Not at all! We never recommend isolated installations, regardless of the snow retention method used. We advise using our spacing guideline pages before purchasing snow guards. The weight distribution of roof snow and ice across the entire structure is one of the most crucial considerations when building a system for your project. Isolated installations carry a high risk of failure, which could harm not just the guards but also the panels and structure of the roof.

Can't I install the SnowCatchers with glue?

No. Customers should limit the use of the adhesive to polycarbonate snow guards only. The adhesive penetrates into the plastic material to provide a firm hold. Since every SnowCatcher is stainless steel, we never recommend using glue for installation. Since these guards must penetrate the panel with screws for attachment, we never recommend installing them on standing seam metal panels.

Can I use the SnowCatchers as a step or tie-off point for fall protection?

Never use snow guards or snow rail systems as steps or tie-off points to prevent falls. If you're looking for a fast and dependable fall prevention option, we suggest the RidgePro.

What is the difference between the regular rectangular SnowCatcher and the ornamental SnowCatchers in terms of strength?

The Mustang is stronger than our standard stainless steel SnowCatcher, which tested at 3923 lbs. Laboratory testing revealed that the ornamental Mustang, with a rating of 4149 lbs, was even more robust. Don't be fooled by its visual charm. This snow guard is a reliable and robust snow retention solution.

Does the Mustang SnowCatcher come in colors?

You can order powder coating to match the color of the stainless steel Mustang SnowCatcher to your roof. If you need a customized color-match quote, send us a physical sample. We will complete a quote once we find a match. Powder coating typically requires a 2-4 week lead time for manufacturing. We don't keep colored SnowCatchers in stock. Customers can order the SnowCatchers in mill finish and have them powder-coated locally for a quicker solution. They may also choose to paint them when they get there.

Does the SnowCatcher require me to use all three mounting holes?

The SnowCatcher snow guard has three pre-drilled holes in its base. You must use the two holes near the guard's face for installation. During the optional powder coating procedure, the coater hangs the SnowCatcher from the third hole at the opposite end of the base. This third hole can also be an extra mounting point for stronger attachment.
