Kodiak SnowCatcher Snow Guard Product Description:

The 16 gauge Mill Kodiak bear-shaped SnowCatcher is a decorative metal snow guard that is made from 304-grade stainless steel.  The large forward-mounted wide face provides a generous holding field, and the 1.5” wide base fits most 36” panels with 9” or 12" rib spacing. The durable construction does not get brittle like cheap fabricated cast guards. Included in the box is a 1/16"-thick adhesive-backed V742 CCF PVC foam sealer for each SnowCatcher purchased.

Kodiak SnowCatcher Snow Retention Application:

Screw down applications only, SnoBlox-SnoJax does not recommend adhesive mounting this guard. Placement in just isolated areas such as chimneys, doorways, vents, and partial roof sections is NOT recommended. Screws are sold separately. Slight variations in mill finish are not cause for rejection.

Please refer to the spacing guideline page for proper snow guard placement.

Kodiak SnowCatcher Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

No! We always discourage isolated installations, regardless of the snow retention technique used. We advise you to use our spacing guideline pages before purchasing snow guards. The weight distribution of roof snow and ice across the entire structure is one of the most crucial considerations when building a system for your project. Isolated installations carry a high risk of failure, which could harm not just the guards but also the panels and structure of the roof.

You should use the adhesive only on polycarbonate snow guards. For the strongest hold, the glue penetrates its way into the plastic material. Since stainless steel metal makes up every SnowCatcher, we never advise using glue for installation. We never recommend installing these guards on standing seam metal panels since their attachments penetrate the panel with screws.

The Kodiak SnowCatcher Snow Guard has three pre-drilled holes in its base. Installers must use the two holes near the guard's face for installation. Workers typically suspend the guard in the third hole at the opposite end of the base during the optional powder coating process. This third hole can also be an extra mounting point for a stronger attachment.

The stainless steel Kodiak SnowCatcher can be color-matched with powder-coating. You must send us a physical sample when requesting a custom color match quote. After selecting a color, we create a quote. Powder coating orders usually require a 3–4 week lead time for manufacturing. We don't maintain a stock of colored SnowCatchers. Customers can order the SnowCatchers in mill finish for a faster option and have them powder-coated locally. Alternatively, they can spray paint them upon arrival.

No! Never use snow guards or snow rail systems as tie-offs or stepping points to prevent falls. We suggest utilizing the RidgePro if you require a fast, dependable fall protection alternative.

The Kodiak SnowCatcher is a single-piece snow guard constructed of American-made 16-gauge 304-grade stainless steel. We are proud to offer "Made in U.S.A." products, in contrast to some competitors who frequently import their manufacturers and raw materials from foreign countries to save money.

About SnoBlox-Snojax

In the late 1970s, we embarked on a quest for an improved snow guard solution that would be non-corrosive and nearly invisible to preserve the building's aesthetic appeal. After extensive testing, we obtained a patent for Snojax®, the world's first screw-down, clear, non-corrosive, polycarbonate snow guard. In 1985, we innovated further with the release of Snojax II, the world's first glue-down polycarbonate snow guard. By 2000, we introduced two patented SnoBlox® models, "Ace" and "Deuce," offering an economical alternative and resolving the challenge of straddling minor ribs. These models boasted the industry's first patented waffled base design, enhancing adhesive bonding. In 2005, we expanded our offerings with Icejax I and Icejax II, which were validated through rigorous testing by the renowned ATI professional testing laboratory. Our Snojax®, SnoBlox®, Icejax™, and SnowCatcher™ brands are the epitome of robust snow guards in the industry, validated by comprehensive testing.
