SnoBar For Metal Roofs Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
The SnoBar system features a 1" x 1" square, hollow Gator Shield-coated galvanized steel tube. The ColorBar system features an extruded 6061-T6 aluminum bar that can accept a color strip. Both systems can be purchased online in mill finish or specially ordered in a powder-coated finish by phone. The ColorBar has superior strength and can span panels wider than 24".
IceStoppers are an optional attachment for standing seam rail systems. They are fastened to the back of the bar without panel penetration and prevent low-lying snow and ice from sliding underneath. While optional, we highly recommend IceStoppers in areas with pedestrians or vehicles. You can install IceStoppers during the initial snow rail installation or retrofit them to previously installed rail systems.
SnoBar and ColorBar systems can be attached to almost any type of sloped roofing. We have systems available for Standing Seam, Screw Down, PBR, Wavy Corrugated, Shingle, Membrane, TPO, and Slate roofing systems, to mention a few.
We have mill finish, 6-foot SnoBar, and ColorBar kits available on our website for immediate purchase. When customers require larger linear footage or desire a custom powder-coated finish, we ship 12-foot bars via LTL in wooden crates. Our technicians are standing by to quote these systems for our customers. Price quote turnaround times are typically 24-48 hours.
An adequately designed snow rail system layout typically features multiple rows up the roof slope to distribute weight evenly. Differences in panel types, seam spacing, roof slopes, snow loads, and attachment methods can significantly impact a project's layout. Please refer to our spacing charts for more information.
