Snow Guards & Snow Retention for Atas International
Snow guards for ATAS International, Inc. roofing panels help control rooftop snow and ice release above entrances, sidewalks, driveways, equipment, vehicles, landscaping, and other areas where sliding snow can create damage or safety concerns. The correct SnoBlox-Snojax product depends on whether the roof uses a standing-seam concealed-fastener system or an exposed-fastener panel, and then on the exact ATAS International panel profile installed.
- ATAS International standing-seam and exposed-fastener panels require different snow-retention attachment methods.
- Standing seam panels should use compatible clamp-on systems or adhesive-mounted polycarbonate guards, not screw-down attachments.
- Exposed-fastener panels may accept glue-down, screw-down, SnowCatcher, PBR rail, or 2.67 corrugated systems, depending on rib shape and flat mounting area.
- Batten-style standing seam panels require extra caution because the batten cap can prevent reliable clamp-on attachment.
- Final product selection should account for roof slope, panel width, snow load, run length, roof material, panel striations, and full-roof layout requirements.

Snow Retention Solutions for ATAS International Roofing
ATAS International manufactures both concealed-fastener standing seam roof panels and exposed-fastener metal roof panels. Those roof styles do not manage snow retention the same way. Standing seam roofs typically require non-penetrating clamp-on systems when the seam shape allows it, or adhesive-mounted guards when the panel has a suitable flat bonding surface. Exposed-fastener panels may accept screw-down products when fastened through the low flats and into adequate structure.
See our full range of snow guards for metal roofs and use the charts below to confirm which SnoBlox-Snojax products fit each ATAS International panel. “YES” indicates the product is shown as a fit for that panel. “NO” means it is not shown as compatible for that profile.
Snow Guards for ATAS International Standing Seam Roof Panels
ATAS International standing seam profiles include Colonial Seam, Dutch Seam, 1-in Field-Lok, 1.5-in Field-Lok, 2-in Field-Lok, 2 3/8-in Field-Lok, PC System, Monarch, and PC System Batten Seam. The key differences are seam shape, whether the panel has a batten cap or a separate seam strip, whether the roof is curved, and whether the panel provides a flat surface for adhesive-mounted guards.
Standing seam warning: Do not install screw-down snow guards through concealed-fastener standing-seam roof panels. Use compatible clamp-on products where the seam accepts them, or adhesive-mounted guards where a flat bonding surface is available.

Colonial Seam, Dutch Seam, and the Field-Lok profiles offer the broadest standing seam compatibility, as they accept many adhesive-mounted guards and compatible clamp-on snow retention systems.
PC System, Monarch, and PC System Batten Seam are batten-style or batten-cap profiles, so clamp-on rail and cleat products do not work with them. EcoJax and SnoBlox Deuce are both polycarbonate snow guard options shown as compatible across the ATAS standing seam chart.
Striated panels may require a heavier adhesive application to fill small gaps and reduce moisture paths beneath the guard. If using a rail system, IceStopper attachments are recommended above pedestrian or parking areas to help manage snow and ice beneath the rail.
Snow Guards for ATAS International Exposed Fastener Roof Panels
ATAS International exposed fastener profiles include Belvedere Grand R, Corrugated, Grand C, Grand V, and Arc-Metafor. These panels do not all provide the same rib spacing, high-rib shape, or low-flat mounting area, so compatibility changes significantly by profile.
Exposed fastener reminder: When screw-down snow guards or rails are compatible, they should be attached through the low flats of the panel and into adequate structure. The exception to this general rule is the 2.67 corrugated system for Corrugated and Grand C panels.

Belvedere Grand R offers the broadest exposure-fastener compatibility, with usable mounting areas for several individual guards and rail systems.
Grand V supports selected pad-style polycarbonate guards and PBR-style rail systems.
Corrugated and Grand C are 2.67-style profiles and should use 2.67-specific systems. Standard flat pad guards and PBR-style products do not work with these corrugated-style panels. Arc-Metafor has limited compatibility and should be test fit before a full order.
Installation Notes for ATAS International Snow Guards
- Layout matters: Plan for snow retention systems to span across the entire roof area, not just above doors, chimneys, or equipment.
- Standing seam panels: Do not use screw-down products through concealed-fastener standing seam panels. Use compatible clamp-on systems or adhesive-mounted guards where appropriate.
- Exposed fastener panels: Mechanically attached products must fasten into adequate structure, not only into the sheet metal panel.
- Adhesive-mounted guards: Striated panels may require a thicker application of Surebond SB-190 adhesive to fill gaps and reduce moisture paths beneath the guard.
- Rail systems: Consider IceStopper attachments when using SnoBar or ColorBar on standing-seam roofs above pedestrian areas, parking areas, doorways, or other sensitive locations.
- Test fitting: Order sample guards, clamps, brackets, or rail components before a full project when the panel profile or installation conditions are uncertain.

Snow Guards for ATAS International Metal Roofing Panels – Compatibility & Installation FAQ
Snow guards for ATAS International metal roofing panels are effective when the snow retention system corresponds correctly to the specific panel profile and attachment method. SnoBlox-Snojax provides compatibility guidance for many ATAS International standing-seam and exposed-fastener metal roof panels, as the correct product depends on the seam shape, panel geometry, and how the system attaches to the roof.
ATAS International metal roofs often benefit from snow guards because metal roofing can allow snow and ice to release suddenly. SnoBlox-Snojax snow guards and snow retention systems help control that release while protecting entrances, walkways, vehicles, landscaping, and other areas below the roof.
Snow guards for ATAS International standing-seam and exposed fastener panels should be selected based on the panel type. For many screw-down panels, pad-style polycarbonate snow guards can be attached with adhesive or with mechanical fasteners and sealant when there is an adequate flat mounting area and proper structural attachment below. For standing seam panels, pad-style guards are applied with adhesive when conditions allow. Snow rails and specific seam-mounted systems use compatible clamps that attach to the seam without penetrating the panel.
Snow guards for ATAS International metal roofing panels should be installed according to the recommended attachment method for that panel. SnoBlox-Snojax installation guidance calls for a clean roof surface, a staggered row layout, and the proper adhesive or mechanical attachment method. For adhesive-mounted pad-style guards, the base should receive full adhesive coverage, with visible squeeze-out, and any gaps should be filled to maintain a weather-tight seal.
Snow guards on an ATAS International metal roof should be placed according to a proper spacing layout rather than in a single straight line near the eave. SnoBlox-Snojax guidance recommends staggered rows extending across the protected roof area, with guards installed on every panel flat and without skipping spaces between seams. On multi-level roofs, the upper roof should also have snow retention to prevent sliding snow and ice from dumping onto the lower roof.
The correct snow guard layout for ATAS International panels is determined by using a panel-specific compatibility approach together with a project-specific spacing layout. SnoBlox-Snojax emphasizes that proper spacing is an essential part of snow retention design, and that installers should follow the recommended roof layout rather than guessing at row count or placement. Proper spacing layouts help distribute snow loads more effectively across the roof and reduce the risk
Installation mistakes with snow guards on ATAS International roofs include using the wrong attachment method, using too few snow guards, placing pad-style guards in straight lines, skipping panel flats, and failing to seal gaps under adhesive-mounted guards. One major mistake is isolating snow guards or snow rails in partial roof sections, creating an unbalanced snow load on the system that can cause premature failure. SnoBlox-Snojax also warns that pad-style snow guards on standing seam roofs should not be screw-fastened through the panel, because penetrating a standing seam panel can damage the roof, lead to leaks, and potentially void the roof manufacturer’s warranty.
