Snow Guards for Exceptional Metals

Snow guards for Exceptional Metals roofing panels help manage rooftop snow and ice above sidewalks, entrances, parking areas, loading zones, landscaping, equipment, and other locations where sudden slides can create damage or safety concerns. The correct SnoBlox-Snojax product depends on whether the Exceptional Metals roof uses a standing-seam concealed-fastener system or an exposed-fastener panel, and, if the latter, on the exact panel profile installed on the building.

Compatible Exceptional Metals snow retention options may include adhesive-mounted polycarbonate guards, screw-fastened guards, SnowCatcher products, PBR-style rail systems, 2.67 corrugated rail systems, non-penetrating clamp-on rail assemblies, RCB-3 rail systems, 2-bar rail systems, and clamp-on SnoCleat products, depending on the panel geometry.
  • Exceptional Metals standing-seam and exposed-fastener panels require different snow-retention attachment methods.
  • Standing seam panels should use compatible clamp-on systems or adhesive-mounted guards, not screw-down attachments.
  • Exposed-fastener panels may accept glue-down, screw-down, SnowCatcher, PBR rail, 2.67 corrugated rail, SnoCleat PBR, or SnoCleat 2.67 systems, depending on panel shape and available mounting area.
  • Exceptional Metals standing-seam profiles generally show broad compatibility with adhesive-mounted polycarbonate guards, whereas separate batten-strip panels limit clamp-on options.
  • Final product selection should account for roof slope, panel width, snow load, run length, roof material, panel striations, insulation, and full-roof layout requirements.
Important: Do not choose snow guards based only on how a product looks. A guard or rail system that works on one Exceptional Metals profile may not be appropriate for another. Clamp-on systems are intended only for compatible standing-seam profiles. In contrast, exposed-fastener panels may require adhesive bonding, mechanical fastening, PBR brackets, 2.67 corrugated brackets, or other panel-specific mounting methods. An incorrect selection can reduce holding strength, increase the risk of leaks, or cause premature system failure.

⚡ Exceptional Metals Primary Quick Selection Guide

Use this section for fast profile-level direction. Confirm the exact product fit in the full compatibility charts below.

  • Most Exceptional Metals standing seam profiles: Compatible with adhesive-mounted polycarbonate guards, SnoBar/ColorBar standing seam rails, RCB-3 systems, 2-bar rails, and SnoCleat RC/RCT.
  • Craftsman High Batten and Small Batten panels: Use adhesive-mounted polycarbonate guards only, as separate batten strips do not provide the same clamp engagement as direct-seam metal.
  • EM CFR Insulated standing seam panels: Compatible with adhesive-mounted guards and selected aluminum ColorBar, ColorBar RCB-3, 2-bar ColorBar, SnoCleat RC, and SnoCleat RCT options.
  • EM PBR, EM 5V Crimp, and EM Stormproof exposed-fastener panels: Compatible with selected polycarbonate guards, SnowCatcher, SnoCleat systems, and screw-down rail systems when installed according to project requirements.
  • Standing seam warning: Do not fasten screw-down snow guards through concealed-fastener standing seam panels.

About Exceptional Metals Roofing Systems

Exceptional Metals, part of the Duro-Last family, produces metal roofing panels and roof-edge accessories for commercial, industrial, agricultural, institutional, and residential projects. Its roofing lineup includes concealed-fastener standing seam profiles, batten-style panels, insulated systems, and exposed-fastener panels, so snow guard compatibility must match the exact Exceptional Metals panel on the roof.

Snow Retention Solutions for Exceptional Metals Roofing

Exceptional Metals' standing-seam panels and exposed-fastener panels do not use the same snow-retention attachment method. Standing seam roofs typically require non-penetrating clamp-on systems when the seam geometry allows it, or adhesive-mounted guards when the panel provides a suitable bonding surface. Exposed-fastener panels may accept screw-down products when fasteners pass through the low flats and into adequate structure.

See our full range of snow guards for metal roofs and use the charts below to confirm which SnoBlox-Snojax products fit each Exceptional Metals panel. “YES” indicates the product is shown as a fit for that panel. “NO” means it is not shown as compatible for that profile.

Snow Guards for Exceptional Metals Standing Seam Roof Panels

Exceptional Metals standing seam profiles in this guide include EM BattenLok HS, EM Double-Lok, EM LokSeam, EM SuperLok, EM Ultra-Dek, EM Craftsman Series High Batten, EM Craftsman Series Small Batten, EM Slimline, and EM CFR Insulated. These panels differ by seam style, panel width, rib height, batten design, insulation, and surface configuration, so product selection must follow the profile-specific chart below.

Standing seam warning: Do not install screw-down snow guards through concealed-fastener standing-seam roof panels. Use compatible clamp-on products where the seam accepts them, or adhesive-mounted guards where a flat bonding surface is available.

EM BattenLok HS, EM Double-Lok, EM LokSeam, EM SuperLok, EM Ultra-Dek, and EM Slimline profiles offer broad standing-seam compatibility because they accept many adhesive-mounted guards and compatible clamp-on snow-retention systems.

Craftsman High Batten and Craftsman Small Batten panels should use adhesive-mounted polycarbonate guards rather than clamp-on systems. Separate batten strips can limit clamp torque and reduce reliable seam engagement.

For EM CFR Insulated panels, use the chart carefully because some galvanized SnoBar systems do not fit the available panel widths. If using a rail system, IceStopper attachments are recommended above pedestrian or parking areas to help manage snow and ice beneath the rail.

Snow Guards for Exceptional Metals Exposed Fastener Roof Panels

Exceptional Metals exposed-fastener compatibility in this guide includes EM PBR, EM 5V Crimp, EM 7.2 Ribbed, EM Stormproof, and EM LS-36 Insulated profiles. These panels vary by rib spacing, rib height, coverage width, insulation, and available mounting flat, so each profile requires a product-specific review before ordering snow guards or rail systems.

Exposed fastener reminder: When screw-down snow guards or rails are compatible, they should be attached through the low flats of the panel and into adequate structure. Do not install individual snow guards or rail systems directly on the high ribs of the panel.

Exceptional Metals EM PBR, EM 5V Crimp, and EM Stormproof panels accept the broadest range of exposed-fastener snow retention products, including selected polycarbonate guards, SnowCatcher and SnoCleat products, and screw-down rail systems.

EM 7.2 Ribbed panels work with SnoBlox Deuce, EcoJax, SnowBreaker, SnoBar PBR, and ColorBar PBR. Still, they do not accept several smaller individual guards or PBR cleat products shown for other profiles.

EM LS-36 Insulated panels should use glue-down polycarbonate options only. Insulation does not provide a suitable structural anchor for screw-down individual guards or rail systems.

For screw-down installations, fasteners must engage a suitable structure beneath the roof panel. For adhesive-mounted polycarbonate guards, plan installation around SureBond SB-190 cure requirements and avoid copper roofing applications.

Exceptional Metals Snow Guard Buying Checklist

  • Confirm the exact Exceptional Metals panel name before choosing any product.
  • Identify the roof type: standing seam, concealed fastener, exposed fastener, PBR-style, 5V, 7.2 ribbed, insulated, or corrugated.
  • Verify the attachment method: adhesive, screw-down, clamp-on, PBR bracket, or 2.67 corrugated bracket.
  • Check ground snow load. Individual glue-down or screw-down guards are generally best suited for lighter snow-load applications. At the same time, higher loads often require rail systems.
  • Request a layout rather than installing only in isolated areas such as doors, chimneys, or HVAC equipment.
  • Order samples or single units when a test fit is needed. SnoBlox-Snojax products and components are available with no minimum order requirement.

Snow Guards for Exceptional Metals Steel Roofing Panels – Compatibility & Installation FAQ

Many Exceptional Metals standing-seam panels accept adhesive-mounted polycarbonate snow guards, including IceJax I, IceJax II, EcoJax, SnoBlox Deuce, SnoBlox Ace, SnoJax II, and SnowBreaker. Several standing seam profiles also support clamp-on SnoBar, ColorBar, RCB-3, double-bar systems, and SnoCleat products. Always confirm compatibility with your specific panel profile before ordering.
No. Clamp-on systems fit only standing-seam panels with compatible seam geometry. Some Exceptional Metals profiles only support adhesive-mounted snow guards. Check the compatibility chart for your exact panel before selecting a product.
Compatibility depends on the panel profile. Some Exceptional Metals exposed fastener panels support adhesive-mounted snow guards, screw-fastened snow guards, SnowCatcher, SnoCleat PBR, SnoBar PBR, and ColorBar PBR systems. Other profiles only accept adhesive-mounted products. Always verify your panel before purchasing.
No. Do not fasten screw-down snow guards through standing seam roof panels. Standing seam systems require compatible clamp-on products or adhesive-mounted snow guards, depending on the panel design.
Compare your roof panel with the profile images and compatibility guides on this page. Match the rib shape, seam style, panel width, and major dimensions. If you still have questions, order a sample or contact SnoBlox-Snojax for assistance before placing a full order.
Yes. Many Exceptional Metals standing-seam panels support SnoBar, ColorBar, RCB-3, and double-bar snow-retention systems. Certain exposed fastener panels also accept PBR-style rail systems. Compatibility depends on the exact panel profile.
That depends on your roof design and snow load. Individual snow guards often work well on smaller roofs or lighter snow-load areas. Larger roofs, steeper slopes, longer panel runs, and heavier snow regions usually benefit from engineered rail systems that distribute loads across the roof.
Even roof panels from the same manufacturer can use different rib shapes, seam designs, and attachment methods. Choosing the right product protects your roof, improves snow retention, and helps prevent installation issues.
