Snow Guards for FlexoSpan

Snow guards for Flexospan roofing panels help manage the release of rooftop snow and ice above entrances, walkways, loading areas, drive lanes, landscaping, parked vehicles, equipment, and other areas where sliding snow can create hazards or property damage. The correct SnoBlox-Snojax system depends first on whether the Flexospan roof is a standing-seam concealed-fastener system or an exposed-fastener panel, then on the exact panel profile installed on the building.

Compatible Flexospan snow retention options may include adhesive-mounted polycarbonate guards, screw-fastened guards, SnowCatcher products, PBR-style rail systems, 2.67 corrugated rail systems, non-penetrating clamp-on rail assemblies, RCB-3 rail systems, 2-bar rail systems, and clamp-on SnoCleat products, depending on the panel geometry.
  • Flexospan standing-seam and exposed-fastener panels require different snow-retention attachment methods.
  • Standing seam panels should use compatible clamp-on systems or adhesive-mounted guards, not screw-down attachments.
  • Exposed-fastener panels may accept glue-down, screw-down, SnowCatcher, PBR rail, or 2.67 corrugated systems, depending on panel shape and available mounting area.
  • Flexospan FSS-1.5, FSS-18, and FSS-316 profiles are broadly compatible with adhesive and clamp-on standing-seam options.
  • Final product selection should account for roof slope, panel width, snow load, run length, roof material, panel striations, and full-roof layout requirements.
Important: Do not choose snow guards based only on appearance. A product that fits one Flexospan profile may not be suitable for another. Clamp-on systems are only for compatible standing-seam profiles. Exposed-fastener panels may require adhesive bonding, mechanical fastening, PBR brackets, 2.67 corrugated brackets, or other profile-specific attachment methods. The wrong selection can reduce holding strength, increase the risk of leaks, or lead to premature system failure.

About Flexospan Roofing Systems

Flexospan Steel Buildings, Inc. is a northwest Pennsylvania manufacturer of metal building products with roots dating back to 1969. Its product range includes standing seam roof panels, exposed-fastener roofing and siding panels, corrugated profiles, structural components, and pre-engineered building solutions. Because Flexospan offers both concealed-fastener and through-fastened profiles, snow guard compatibility must match the exact Flexospan panel on the roof.

Snow Retention Solutions for Flexospan Roofing

Flexospan standing-seam panels and exposed-fastener panels do not use the same snow-retention attachment method. Standing seam roofs typically require non-penetrating clamp-on systems when the seam geometry allows it, or adhesive-mounted guards when the panel pan provides a suitable bonding surface. Exposed-fastener panels may accept screw-down products when attached through the correct mounting area and into adequate structure.

See our full range of snow guards for metal roofs and use the charts below to confirm which SnoBlox-Snojax products fit each Flexospan panel. “YES” indicates the product is shown as a fit for that panel. “NO” means it is not shown as compatible for that profile.

Snow Guards for Flexospan Standing Seam Roof Panels

The Flexospan standing-seam profiles in this guide include FSS-1.5, FSS-18, and FSS-316. These panels differ by seam height, panel width, panel surface configuration, and project application. All three profiles work with adhesive-mounted polycarbonate guards and compatible clamp-on snow retention systems.

Standing seam warning: Do not install screw-down snow guards through concealed-fastener standing-seam roof panels. Use compatible clamp-on products where the seam accepts them, or adhesive-mounted guards where a flat bonding surface is available.

FSS-1.5, FSS-18, and FSS-316 profiles offer broad standing seam compatibility because they accept many adhesive-mounted guards and compatible clamp-on snow retention systems.

Striated or ribbed panel surfaces may require a heavier adhesive application to fill small gaps and reduce moisture paths beneath the guard. If using a rail system, IceStopper attachments are recommended above pedestrian or parking areas to help manage snow and ice beneath the rail.

Snow Guards for Flexospan Exposed Fastener Roof Panels

Flexospan exposed-fastener compatibility in this guide includes the Flexbeam, Flexrib, Corrugated 1/2-inch, Corrugated 3/4-inch, Corrugated 7/8-inch, and R-Panel profiles. These panels vary significantly in rib spacing, corrugation depth, mounting area, and attachment requirements, so compatibility changes by profile.

Exposed fastener reminder: When screw-down snow guards or rails are compatible, they should be attached through the appropriate mounting area and into adequate structure. Standard exposed-fastener profiles should not have individual snow guards or rail systems installed directly on the high ribs unless the profile-specific system works for that corrugated geometry.

Flexbeam works with selected adhesive-mounted polycarbonate guards, SnowBreaker, SnoBar PBR, and ColorBar PBR. Flexrib and R-Panel profiles offer broader compatibility with exposed fasteners for many polycarbonate guards, including SnowCatcher, SnoCleat PBR, SnoBar PBR, and ColorBar PBR.

Corrugated 1/2-inch, 3/4-inch, and 7/8-inch profiles use 2.67 corrugated systems. SnoCleat 2.67, SnoBar 2.67, and ColorBar 2.67 do not have compatibility with Flexbeam, Flexrib, or R-Panel profiles.

For screw-down installations, fasteners must engage a suitable structure beneath the roof panel. For adhesive-mounted polycarbonate guards, plan installation around SureBond SB-190 cure requirements and avoid copper roofing applications.

Flexospan Snow Guard Buying Checklist

  • Confirm the exact Flexospan panel name before choosing any product.
  • Identify the roof type: standing seam, concealed fastener, exposed fastener, PBR-style, or corrugated.
  • Verify the attachment method: adhesive, screw-down, clamp-on, PBR bracket, or 2.67 corrugated bracket.
  • Check ground snow load. Individual glue-down or screw-down guards are generally best suited for lighter snow-load applications. At the same time, higher loads often require rail systems.
  • Request a layout rather than installing only in isolated areas such as doors, chimneys, or HVAC equipment.
  • Order samples or single units when a test fit is needed. SnoBlox-Snojax products and components are available with no minimum order requirement.
