Snow Guards for American Building Components ABC
Snow guards for American Building Components metal roofing panels help reduce the risk of sudden snow and ice release above doors, sidewalks, loading areas, vehicles, landscaping, and other vulnerable spaces below the roof edge. The correct SnoBlox-Snojax product depends on whether the roof is a standing-seam concealed-fastener system or an exposed-fastener panel, and on the exact American Building Components panel profile installed.
- American Building Components' standing-seam and exposed-fastener panels require different snow-guard attachment methods.
- LokSeam and SL-16 standing seam roofs may accept adhesive-mounted guards and compatible clamp-on rail or cleat systems.
- Exposed-fastener panels may accept glue-down, screw-down, SnowCatcher, PBR rail, or 2.67 corrugated systems, depending on the profile geometry.
- Corrugated ABC panels are highly profile-specific because 2-1/2" and 1-1/4" corrugated panels are not the same as standard 2.67" corrugated profiles.
- Final product selection should always account for roof slope, panel width, snow load, run length, roof material, attachment method, and layout requirements.

- LokSeam and SL-16: Broad standing seam compatibility with adhesive-mounted snow guards, clamp-on SnoBar/ColorBar rail systems, RCB-3 systems, 2 bar rail systems, and SnoCleat RC/RCT.
- PBR, 7/8 Wide Rib, and Regal Rib: Support some of the widest exposed-fastener product ranges, including selected adhesive/screw-down guards, SnowCatcher options, SnoCleat PBR, and PBR-style rail systems.
- Imperial Rib, Perma-Clad, Monarch Rib, and Rugged Rib: Compatible with multiple individual guards and PBR-style rail systems, but rib shape and flat width can limit which products should be centered or rib-straddled.
- PBU and Retro-R: Compatible with selected compact guards and rail options, but the narrower flats require careful product selection and test fitting before ordering a full layout.
- PBC: Use SnoCleat 2.67, SnoBar 2.67, or ColorBar 2.67. PBR systems do not support standard flat-mounted pad guards.
- 5V Crimp: Compatible with many individual guards and PBR-style rails, and it is also shown as compatible with SnoCleat 2.67 because of the panel geometry noted in the compatibility chart.
- Ameri-Drain, 2-1/2 Corrugated, and 1-1/4 Corrugated: The chart shows no compatible SnoBlox-Snojax products for these panels. Contact ABC or order samples to verify before designing a system.
About American Building Components Metal Roofing Systems
American Building Components, commonly referred to as ABC, has supplied metal building products for more than a century. Their product lineup includes metal roofing, siding, light-gauge framing, trim, and accessories for residential, agricultural, commercial, and post-frame construction. Because ABC offers both standing-seam concealed-fastener panels and many exposed-fastener profiles, snow retention compatibility varies by panel type, rib spacing, seam shape, flat width, and fastening method. This guide combines compatibility information for both American Building Components standing-seam and exposed-fastener roof panels to help identify compatible SnoBlox-Snojax snow guards and snow retention systems for specific ABC profiles.
Snow Retention Solutions for American Building Components Metal Roofing
American Building Components manufactures concealed-fastener standing-seam panels and exposed-fastener metal roof panels. Because those roof styles attach differently, the snow retention strategy must match the panel. Standing seam roofs usually benefit from non-penetrating clamp-on systems when the seam shape allows it, while exposed fastener roofs may accept screw-down products when fastened through the proper low flats and into adequate structure.
See our full range of snow guards for metal roofs and use the charts below to confirm which SnoBlox-Snojax products have compatibility with each American Building Components panel. “YES” indicates the product is shown as a fit for that panel. “NO” means it is not shown as compatible for that profile.
Snow Guards for American Building Components Standing Seam Roof Panels
American Building Components standing seam profiles include LokSeam and SL-16. Both profiles are compatible with broad snow retention, including adhesive-mounted polycarbonate snow guards and several clamp-on rail or cleat-style systems. The key distinction is that these concealed-fastener panels should not be treated like screw-down exposed-fastener panels.
Standing seam warning: Screw-down snow guards must not be installed through concealed-fastener standing-seam panels. Use compatible clamp-on products where the seam accepts them, or adhesive-mounted guards where a flat bonding surface is available.

LokSeam and SL-16 are both shown as compatible with adhesive-mounted individual snow guards, SnowBreaker products, clamp-on SnoBar and ColorBar rail systems, RCB-3 systems, 2-bar systems, and SnoCleat RC/RCT options.
LokSeam includes wide panel options and a seam shape that supports multiple snow retention approaches. Minor striations may require a more liberal adhesive bed to help fill small gaps and reduce moisture paths beneath glue-down guards.
SL-16 also offers multiple options, but its wider trapezoidal seam shape may show some visual crimping at clamp attachment points. Ordering sample clamps for a test fit is strongly recommended before placing the main order.
Snow Guards for American Building Components' Exposed Fastener Roof Panels
American Building Components' exposed fastener profiles include PBR, PBU, 5V Crimp, PBC, Retro-R, Imperial Rib, Ameri-Drain, Perma-Clad, 7/8 Wide Rib, Monarch Rib, Regal Rib, Rugged Rib, 2-1/2 Corrugated, and 1-1/4 Corrugated. These panels do not all provide the same flat mounting area, so compatibility changes significantly from one profile to the next.
Exposed fastener reminder: Installers should fasten screw‑down snow guards or rails through the low flats and into the proper structure, except when using products built for corrugated high‑rib mounting, such as the 2.67‑series systems.

PBR, 7/8 Wide Rib, and Regal Rib provide some of the broadest exposed-fastener compatibility in the ABC group. These profiles support many individual guards, SnowCatcher options, SnoCleat PBR, SnoBar PBR, and ColorBar PBR systems.
PBU, Retro-R, Monarch Rib, Imperial Rib, Perma-Clad, and Rugged Rib require closer attention to flat width, rib shape, and mounting location. Some products must be centered between ribs, while others may require consistent off-center placement or compact guard styles.
PBC functions as a corrugated-style exception and works with SnoCleat 2.67, SnoBar 2.67, and ColorBar 2.67.
ABC 2-1/2 Corrugated and 1-1/4 Corrugated panels are not shown as compatible because their rib spacing does not match standard 2.67 corrugated snow retention systems.
Ameri-Drain does not have a recommended SnoBlox-Snojax product shown in the chart due to limited profile information and narrow spacing concerns. Contact ABC for profile details and order samples for test fitting before specifying a complete system.
American Building Components Snow Guard Buying Checklist
- Confirm the exact name of the American Building Components panel before choosing any product.
- Identify the roof type: standing seam, exposed fastener, PBR-style, R-panel style, or corrugated.
- Verify the attachment method: adhesive, screw-down, clamp-on, PBR bracket, or 2.67 corrugated bracket.
- Check ground snow load. Individual glue-down or screw-down guards are generally best suited for lighter snow-load applications. At the same time, higher loads often require rail systems.
- Request a layout rather than installing only in isolated areas such as doors, chimneys, or HVAC equipment.
- Order samples or single units when a test fit is needed. SnoBlox-Snojax products and components are available with no minimum order requirement.
