Snow Guards for Drexel Metals

Snow guards for Drexel Metals roofing panels help manage rooftop snow and ice release above entrances, walkways, driveways, parking areas, landscaping, mechanical equipment, and other areas where sliding snow can create hazards or property damage. The correct SnoBlox-Snojax product depends on whether the roof uses a standing-seam concealed-fastener system or an exposed-fastener panel, and then on the exact Drexel Metals panel profile installed.

Compatible Drexel Metals snow retention options may include adhesive-mounted polycarbonate guards, screw-fastened guards, SnowCatcher products, 2.67 corrugated systems, PBR-style rail systems, non-penetrating clamp-on rail assemblies, RCB-3 rail systems, 2-bar rail systems, and clamp-on SnoCleat products, depending on the panel geometry.
  • Drexel Metals standing-seam and exposed-fastener panels require different snow-retention attachment methods.
  • Standing seam panels should use compatible clamp-on systems or adhesive-mounted guards, not screw-down attachments.
  • Exposed-fastener panels may accept glue-down, screw-down, SnowCatcher, PBR rail, or 2.67 corrugated systems, depending on rib shape and flat mounting area.
  • Batten-style standing seam panels require extra caution because the batten cap can prevent reliable clamp-on attachment.
  • Final product selection should account for roof slope, panel width, snow load, run length, roof material, panel striations, and full-roof layout requirements.
Important: Do not select snow guards based solely on appearance. A product that fits one Drexel Metals panel may not fit another. Clamp-on systems are intended only for compatible standing seam profiles, while exposed fastener panels may require adhesive bonding, screw-down attachment, PBR brackets, Tall ColorBrackets, or 2.67 corrugated brackets. Incorrect selection can reduce holding strength, create leak risks, or cause premature system failure.

About Drexel Metals Roofing Systems

Drexel Metals was founded in 1985 and became Drexel Metals Inc. in 2009. The company expanded its fabrication capabilities in 2011 by acquiring Met-Fab Manufacturing and now supports metal roofing projects through sales, fabrication, distribution, equipment, and engineered metal roofing systems. Drexel Metals offers standing seam roof panels, exposed-fastener panels, corrugated panels, wall panels, custom fabrication services, and metal roofing materials in a range of profiles, finishes, and substrates. Because Drexel Metals panels vary by seam height, batten design, rib spacing, fastening method, panel width, material, and surface configuration, snow guard compatibility must be matched to the exact panel profile. This guide combines Drexel Metals standing seam and exposed-fastener compatibility information into a hub-style reference for choosing SnoBlox-Snojax snow guards and snow retention systems.

Snow Retention Solutions for Drexel Metals Roofing

Drexel Metals manufactures both concealed-fastener standing seam roof panels and exposed-fastener metal roof panels. Those roof styles do not manage snow retention the same way. Standing seam roofs typically require non-penetrating clamp-on systems when the seam shape allows it, or adhesive-mounted guards when the panel has a suitable flat bonding surface. Exposed-fastener panels may accept screw-down products when fastened through the low flats and into adequate structure.

See our full range of snow guards for metal roofs and use the charts below to confirm which SnoBlox-Snojax products fit each Drexel Metals panel. “YES” indicates the product is shown as a fit for that panel. “NO” means it is not shown as compatible for that profile.

Snow Guards for Drexel Metals Standing Seam Roof Panels

Drexel Metals standing seam profiles include 200S, 150SS, 100SS, 175S, 450SL, 450, 550S, 150NS, 100NS, Cap Seam, and Snap-On Batten. The key differences are seam shape, seam height, batten cap design, panel width, whether the panel is mechanically seamed, whether the roof is curved, and whether the pan provides a flat surface for adhesive-mounted guards.

Standing seam warning: Do not install screw-down snow guards through concealed-fastener standing-seam roof panels. Use compatible clamp-on products where the seam accepts them, or adhesive-mounted guards where a flat bonding surface is available.

The 200S, 150SS, 100SS, 175S, 450SL, 450, 550S, 150NS, and 100NS profiles offer the broadest standing seam compatibility, as they accept many adhesive-mounted guards and compatible clamp-on snow retention systems.

Cap Seam and Snap-On Batten panels use batten-style cap geometry, so clamp-on rail and cleat products do not work with them. These profiles remain compatible with adhesive-mounted polycarbonate guards, including EcoJax and SnoBlox Deuce.

Striated panels may require a heavier adhesive application to fill small gaps and reduce moisture paths beneath the guard. If using a rail system, IceStopper attachments are recommended above pedestrian or parking areas to help manage snow and ice beneath the rail.

Snow Guards for Drexel Metals Exposed Fastener Roof Panels

Drexel Metals exposed fastener profiles include 5V, 1/2-inch and 7/8-inch Corrugated, R-Panel, and 7.2 Rib. These panels do not all provide the same rib spacing, high-rib shape, or low-flat mounting area, so compatibility changes significantly by profile.

Exposed fastener reminder: When screw-down snow guards or rails are compatible, they should be attached through the low flats of the panel and into adequate structure. The exception to this general rule is the 2.67 corrugated system for 1/2-inch and 7/8-inch corrugated panels.

The 5V and R-Panel profiles accept the widest range of exposed-fastener snow retention options, including selected polycarbonate snow guards, SnowCatcher products, SnoCleat PBR, and PBR-style rail systems.

The 7.2 Rib profile has limited low-flat mounting space, so compatible options are narrower and include EcoJax, SnoBlox Deuce, SnowBreaker, SnoBar PBR, and ColorBar PBR. The 1/2-inch and 7/8-inch corrugated profiles require 2.67 corrugated systems because their wavy panel shape does not provide a flat mounting surface for standard pad-style guards.

When using screw-down products, always verify that the fasteners engage adequate structure beneath the panel. When using adhesive-mounted polycarbonate guards, follow the recommended adhesive and cure-time guidance for the project conditions.

Drexel Metals Snow Guard Buying Checklist

  • Confirm the exact Drexel Metals panel name before choosing any product.
  • Identify the roof type: standing seam, concealed fastener, exposed fastener, PBR-style, or corrugated.
  • Verify the attachment method: adhesive, screw-down, clamp-on, PBR bracket, or 2.67 corrugated bracket.
  • Check ground snow load. Individual glue-down or screw-down guards are generally best suited for lighter snow-load applications. At the same time, higher loads often require rail systems.
  • Request a layout rather than installing only in isolated areas such as doors, chimneys, or HVAC equipment.
  • Order samples or single units when a test fit is needed. SnoBlox-Snojax products and components are available with no minimum order requirement.

Snow Guards for Drexel Metal Roofing Panels – Compatibility & Installation FAQ

Drexel Metals is a manufacturer of architectural metal roofing and wall panel systems used on residential, commercial, and institutional projects, as well as on historic restoration projects throughout North America. Their product lineup includes standing-seam, exposed-fastener, and specialty metal panel systems.
Drexel Metals manufactures a variety of metal roofing systems, including standing seam concealed-fastener panels and exposed-fastener roof panels. Each panel profile has unique dimensions and attachment requirements that can affect snow guard compatibility.
Manufacturers design metal roofing systems with smooth surfaces that can allow accumulated snow and ice to slide suddenly as temperatures change. Snow guards help control that movement and reduce the risk of large snow avalanches.
The correct snow guard depends on the specific Drexel Metals panel profile. Compatible options may include adhesive-mounted polycarbonate snow guards, clamp-on snow rails, cleat systems, PBR-style products, or corrugated panel systems.
Yes. EcoJax is a clear polycarbonate snow guard that is compatible with SnoBlox Deuce and can be used anywhere the Deuce is listed as compatible.
Standing seam roofs conceal their fasteners beneath the panel system. In contrast, exposed fastener roofs use visible screws through the panel surface. These different designs often require different snow retention products and attachment methods.
In many cases, yes. Snow guards and snow rail systems can often be retrofitted to existing roofs when the panel profile and roof condition are suitable for the selected attachment method.
Not necessarily. The need for snow retention depends on factors such as roof slope, roof height, local snowfall, pedestrian traffic, parking areas, building entrances, and project-specific safety requirements.
Individual snow guards help break up snow movement across the roof surface. In contrast, snow rail systems provide continuous retention along a larger section of the roof. The best choice depends on roof design and snow load requirements.
Yes. By reducing sudden snow and ice movement, snow retention systems may help protect gutters, landscaping, HVAC equipment, vehicles, walkways, and other property located below the roof edge.
You can often identify your panel by comparing seam shapes, panel widths, rib spacing, and profile dimensions. Photos and measurements can help confirm the correct panel profile before selecting snow retention products.
The SnoBlox-Snojax team can help identify compatible products and provide guidance based on the roof panel profile, roof dimensions, project location, and snow load requirements.
